37 weeks...and counting

Today I am officially 37 weeks...full term! I feel like I can breathe a little sigh of relief, like "whew, at least that's one obstacle we've made it past!" Now I welcome Little Man to come anytime he pleases, sooner rather than later I hope. I thought I would answer some of the most common questions I am getting these days...

36 weeks and 4 days

1. Are you ready?

I think the answer to this is I am as ready as one can be for such a life-altering change. I have been blessed with a fairly smooth pregnancy thus far, and it's hard to imagine that in a few weeks or less, I will have my body back (somewhat) to myself. I can say I'm ready to not be quite so uncomfortable!

The house is mostly ready now (not the reno house, but the house we live in). We have our carseat installed, the pack n play set up, and the house somewhat organized. Bear seems to be ok with his new sleeping spot (the pack n play took his old one) and hasn't attacked any of Lucas' toys lately.

Ready for a passenger!

Besides being hot and uncomfortable, I am mostly just really excited to meet our little son. I am hopeful and anxious for a healthy, safe delivery. But really, I can't wait to be holding Lucas in my arms. For that, I am very ready! For everything else, I guess I'm as prepared as I can be. I'm just ready to take things as they come and praying the Lord will help me be the best mommy I possibly can be.

2. How is the house coming along?

The house is, as always, a work in progress. As of today, sheet rock is finally finished. Of all the things we have done thus far, I have to say having sheet rock in has made the most impact. Now we can really see what it will look like-especially in the areas where we knocked out walls and changed the layout. It's exciting to finally see things taking shape! Next we will start with painting, trim, & flooring.

We also had the arch fixed this weekend so it no longer requires a not-so-lovely strip of metal and pole to hold it up.

We had to leave the form in place for a few days while the mortar dried

After...no more pole!

3. Is your nursery ready?

As mentioned above, with renovating a house and having a baby all around the same time, we decided a few months back that it would be best to wait until after Lucas was born to move into the house. Thankfully, the end is *somewhat* in sight, and we *think* we can be done in about 2 months with the house. Of course, that all depends on how much of a hiatus we take when Lucas is born.

All that being said, it didn't really make any sense to go to the trouble of making a nursery in house we will only be in for a few more months. We would have had Lucas sleeping in our room in the pack n play either way. This is the status of what will be Lucas' room when we move...

That's pretty much the state of things around here these days! We continue to ask for your prayers for a healthy remainder of pregnancy and delivery.

More Baby Shower Fun

As wonderful and exciting as wedding showers are, there is something even more fun about baby showers. Maybe it's just that everything is cuter in miniature, or there's so much excitement surrounding the coming of a baby, but either way, they are fun! We finished up our showers in June, but I am just getting around to the recap.

We had a wonderful shower in Memphis. The ladies really outdid themselves with all of the cute decorations and tasty treats.

The lovely hostesses

It was so good to see so many friends and family from back home!

We also got to celebrate with our church family and friends here in Birmingham.

With two of our other dear friends who are expecting

I also had a blast getting together with some of my good friends from college and celebrating the arrivals of Lucas and Laura's precious baby. Laura is one of my dearest friends from college, and she is due 2 days before me!

Miss you girls!
We also had a fun shower with my coworkers, who have been amazingly supportive throughout my pregnancy. I am so thankful for them!

It is always so good to have an excuse to get together with all these loved ones that we don't get to see often enough. Andy and I feel so blessed to know that Lucas will be raised surrounded by so many family and friends who will love him and help keep him in line =). Thank you so much to all of you who have helped celebrate his coming arrival!

I will be 37 weeks this week! Pregnancy has really been flying by! I guess it helps that we have had lots of distractions at the house. Only a few more weeks until Lucas will be here. Please continue to pray for our little man to be healthy!
